Brian Coffey is a 2016 LHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Bishop Gorman HS. Well built broad shouldered build, fairly mature physically. High leg raise delivery, medium length arm action, hides the ball well behind his body, 3/4's arm slot, arm will get behind his body at times causing him to leave the ball up. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly straight with occasional arm side running action, can work down in the zone more effectively but tried to hit spots. Change up is a quality pitch, consistent slot and arm speed, gets nice fading action and locates the pitch with feel. Sluve type breaking ball is his third pitch, has feel for it and locates but can improve spin. Fits the crafty left mold with better fastball command. Very good student.
