Benton Hart is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Lakeside, CA who attends Santana HS. Large frame with a lean, athletic build and long limbs. Projects for additional size with strength. Left handed hitter with a smooth tempo leg lift delivery. Quick, loose arm action from a mid to low three-quarters arm slot. Lower half drives downhill with good actions, landing at a slightly closed position. Solid command to the edges of the plate with fastball offering that topped at 80 mph. Fastball will show occasional put to glove side when releasing from the lower arm slot. Curveball had 10/4 shape with good rotation and tilt. Very good command with the slider, spotting up on both inner and outer edge of the plate. Release point differs due the multiple arm slot, but proved to be deceptive to hitter effectively keeping them off balance. Left handed hitter with a narrow, straight stance and high hand set. Smooth path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Works on top of the baseball primarily but shows the barrel skills to work the ball to opposite field on a line as well. Hitting tools will continue to develop with physical maturity. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced action to close and gather. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working into throws. Long arm action at release creating some carry to the bag with accuracy. Good student as well.
