2015 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Erick Hall is a 2015 RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Roscoe, IL who attends Hononegah HS. Strong, sturdy build with good strength throughout body. Well-proportioned athlete. Shows slinging arm action on the mound, arm is pretty loose to 3/4 slot. Up-tempo and fast-paced delivery, gets the ball and is already starting delivery, very fast worker, consistently threw strikes with all pitches. Ball comes out of hand easily and gets on hitters quickly. Worked in the mid-upper 70's, touching 79. Fastball shows good life to arm side, delivery is rotational and mostly balanced, though overall speed of delivery can knock him off balance at times. Slider worked in the high 60's/low 70's, showed good, consistent horizontal break and occasional tilt. Did a good job of pounding the zone and eliciting weak contact. At bat, showcased short stroke from slightly open stance. Could utilize lower half more throughout swing. Shows strength off barrel that will lead to more power once legs are more involved. Simple mechanics that are very well-suited for contact at present. Worked out at 1B, showed good footwork around the bag and on the charge, transfers well, and shows good arm strength from short arm action with accuracy on throws. Good student.
