Ryan Tackett is a 2017 1B/OF with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends The Woodlands HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a mature, physical build with plenty of strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 6.98 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, very full arm action through the backside, shows arm strength on throws across the diamond, remains balanced while charging in and shows accuracy to throws. Takes short steps moving to the ball in the outfield, gets behind the ball well, shows arm strength on throws, clean transfer, additional strength with refined lower half mechanics. Switch-hitter, best strength and contact comes from the left side, beings with a high hand set in the box, shows sound balance to swing. Shorter path to the ball with leverage, looks to drive the ball and can do so hard off the barrel when on time with weight shift, can drive to the opposite field too. Swing slightly longer from the right side, shows ability to impact ball when balanced and staying through the ball, incorporates physical strength well. Named to South Uncommitted Top Prospect List. Very good student.
