Matt Oldham is a 2017 C/3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Pittsboro, NC who attends Northwood HS. Medium athletic build, has some strength and plenty of room to add more. Very sound defensive skills and tools, has quickness and athleticism in his actions, comes out of his crouch well with quick short footwork and a consistent exchange, good arm with accurate throws, blocks and shifts well. Left handed hitter, simple shift into contact from a wide base, limited hand load, upper half swing, line drive plane, hits down to the ball with a short contact approach, will flash strength at contact that should keep improving with physical maturity. Well coached mature player with plus skills to build on. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Wake Forest.
