Joshua Gere is a 2015 OF/SS/RHP with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Kingwood, TX who attends Kingwood HS. Strong compact athletic build, well conditioned football appearance. 6.95 runner, moves well to the ball in the outfield with good footwork, long loose arm action, accurate on line throws, also plays the infield but profiles best in centerfield. Right handed hitter, deep hand load with some barrel wrap, stays on his backside and tries to stay inside the ball, mostly opposite field contact with the ability to drive the right centerfield gap, ball comes off the barrel well, has the strength to improve as a hitter with adjustments to his approach. Also pitched, simple leg raise delivery from a big side step start, high arm circle with high 3/4's to over the top release. Fastball topped at 81 mph, got some nice 2-seam action in the upper 70's, good downhill angle to the plate. Big 12/6 downer curveball showed good bite and depth at times. Threw strikes and had an idea how to mix pitches and work hitters. Good student.
