Colton Garland is a 2016 1B/OF/RHP with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Green Mountain, NC who attends Mountain Heritage HS. Big, physical build. Left handed hitter, strength in swing, starts from open stance, generates natural leverage in uphill path. Aggressive, pull-oriented approach, can dive in at times, shows ability to put charge into ball and real power potential. Primary first baseman, sits back a bit, shows solid arm strength with accurate throws, could incorporate lower half more into mechanics. Also pitches, long arm action with wrap on backside, works to lower arm slot. Shows some life on 76 mph fastball. Also mixes in a breaking ball with varied tilt and shows good armspeed on his changeup, still developing command for both offspeed offerings. Big time potential with the bat. Named to Top Prospect List. Very good student.
