Steven Carpenter is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Quinton, VA who attends New Kent HS. Slender young middle infielder's build, lots of room to get stronger. 7.17 runner, very calm and polished infield actions, slows the game down well, soft hands and always balanced, quick release with accurate on line throws, plenty of arm strength with more projected, defensive skills are there to stay in the middle of the field. Right handed hitter, quiet simple load, moves into contact well, balanced repeatable swing, loose extended finish out front, shows more pop in his bat than his build would indicated, hits to all fields. Also pitched, side step delivery, opens front side early and spins. Fastball up to 83 mph, showed good feel for his change up. Nice young player who projects well and should continue improving with strength. Good student.
