Nick Valos is a 6' 160 pound 2007 outfielder and right handed pitcher from Bakersfield, California who attends Stockdale High School. He has a long lean body that is very projectable with room to hold more weight. In the field, Nick has good speed and first step quickness with direct routes to fly balls and good balance on ground balls. At the plate, Valos has a quiet approach with a wide base. He has some good raw powr that allows him to drive the ball with authority. He has some effort in his swing that will even out as he gets stronger. Nick throws from a high 3/4 arm slot from the mound. He has a full arm action in back with some good arm speed out front and a quick tempo to his delivery. His fastball was fairly true at 78 mph and his curveball has good depth and a 12/6 rotation at 64-66 mph. He has a good feel for the strike zone and attacks hitters. Nick is a very good student as well with a 3.8 gpa.
