Jarryd Samsing is a 2017 OF/C with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Litchfield Park, AZ who attends Verrado HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders, high waist and a strong build with room to fill out with additional strength. Strong runner and moves well, posted a 6.84 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves to the ball with short steps, stays down through the ball, compact arm stroke in the back and shows carry out of the hand, additional strength there with continued incorporation of lower half, accuracy to throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a hand set at shoulders with a high back elbow. Upper body swing, shows a short bat path to the ball with quick hands, strength plays in swing. Front side opens early at times, shows ability to get extended at times and drive the ball with jump off barrel. Can turn on inside pitch and create backspin. Excellent student.
