Matthew Boyko is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Westbury, NY who attends W Tresper Clarke HS. Extra-large, athletic build with a long, lean build that projects well with added strength. Ran a 5.73 40-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short and compact arm action in the back. High leg raise with a slight hip turn, short stride down the mound and does a nice job working over front side. Ball comes out easy, can get fastball in on hands of hitters with plenty of natural cut at 78 mph. Creates some angle, 1-7 shape on curveball with occasional depth showing a nice feel for the pitch. Nice job of staying balanced through delivery. Similar arm action at first base, consistent actions with soft hands and accuracy across. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base with an upper body swing. Line drive swing plane, shows nice hands in swing with ability to hit to the middle and opposite parts of the field. Good student.
