Garrett Hastings is a 2017 OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Gainesville, FL who attends F. W. Buchholz HS. Hastings has a medium sized frame with a long lean build. Defensively he has solid actions in the outfield and is aggressive to the baseball. He has solid arm strength up to 81 MPH and he has some arm quickness. Hastings has a shorter stride with an upright finish. He is a plus runner with 6.55 speed in the sixty and it played well in the games portion of the showcase. At the plate, Hastings starts with a slightly open stance and uses a leg lift trigger. He has a rotational swing and a spray line drive approach. He has bat speed and made consistent barrel contact in the games portion of the showcase. Excellent student, named to Top Prospect Team.
