Kyle Olsen is a 2006 right handed pitcher and outfielder with a 6'1" 175 pound frame from Jacksonville, Florida who attends Bishop Kenny High School. He has an athletic body and good strength. Kyle throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with sound mechanics. He uses his lower half very well and has very good balance. His fastball is fairly true at 85 mph and he shows good command of it as well. He does like to run his fastball up in the zone to get hitters to chase. His curveball at 66 mph was a very big breaker that shows promise. His change up was at 74 mph and it seems like that is a new pitch for him. Olsen showed a very strong arm from the outfield as well by throwing 87 mph during the workout. He has very good carry on his throws and was very smooth. At the plate, he is a right handed hitter with an open stance. He has a quiet approach and a simple swing that lets him make contact to all fields. Kyle is a right handed pitcher that should be looked at as he has good potential. He is also an outstanding student with a 4.1 gpa and a 1300 on his SAT.
