2016 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Robbie Brue is a 2017 C/1B/OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Hayward, CA who attends Castro Valley HS. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical development. Ran a 7.45 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low set and good hip flexion while receiving. Gains some ground showing replacing footwork while working out of crouch to throw. Shows good arm strength at release creating solid on line carry with accuracy to the bag. Topped at 79 mph with a best workout pop time of 1.91. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance. Leans back at load and creates occasional hand separation before launching to contact. Primarily showed a mid-field approach while hands came through the zone on a compact, direct path. Consistently found the barrel throughout batting practice producing line drive, ground ball contact between the outfield gaps. Shows a projetable frame with tools that will continue to develop with physical maturity and mechanical refinement. Named to the 2016 West Cost Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
