2013 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Jay Stanga is a 2016 LHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Brentwood, TN who attends Brentwood Academy. Strong athletic build, especially for his age, projects well physically. Very sound delivery mechanics, stays in sync, balanced and on line, medium arm circle, high 3/4's arm slot, arm works well and the ball comes out easily. Consistent low 80's fastball, topped out at 83 mph, mostly straight with occasional run, keeps fastball low in the strike zone. Curveball started off soft but evolved into his out pitch once he become comfortable, has spin and a sharp break, good 1/7 depth. Has thrown change ups in tournaments but not this event. Polished young pitcher with two quality pitches to develop and a very good delivery, follow carefully. Good student. Named to the National Underclass Showcase Main Event Top Prospect Team.
