Matthew Russell is a 2014 1B/RHP with a 5-11 162 lb. frame from Sugar Land, TX who attends Stephen F Austin HS. Slender medium build, developing strength. Left handed hitter, still start from open stance, loose swing, stays short to the ball, line drive plane, sprays to all fields, will improve with additional strength, 7.77 runner. Also pitched, compact arm action, 3/4's release, drifting delivery with late hand separation, fastball topped out at 78 mph, soft rolling downer curveball with occasional depth. Good student.
