Javier Alvarez is a 2013 OF/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Long Beach, CA who attends Lakewood. Alvarez has a large frame with an athletic projectable build. He has good arm strength from the outfield at 89 MPH with carry on his throws. Alvarez has max effort actions and moves to the ball well. He has an accurate arm. At the plate, Alvarez starts with a square stance and maintains balance through his swing. He has good bat speed and uses his hands well in his swing. Alvarez gets good extension and made hard contact. He pitches from an over the top arm slot with a quick whippy arm action. He throws an 11/5 curveball with tight spin. Solid two way guy.
