2004 Underclass National Showcase
Helms is an "06" RHP/1B from Illinois. He has a solid lean frame at 6'0/175 with room for additional strength gain. Helms is a low 3/4 to sidearm pitcher with a good slow breaking ball that has depth. He has a long slinging arm action that results in fastballs around mid 70s with some life. Seems to know what he wants to do on the mound. He has some inconsistencies in his release, but they might be on purpose. He's definitely a finesse type pitcher who could develop a lot more velocity over the next two years. He also showed some power potential at the plate. Tyson is an excellent student.
