Terrance Jackson is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder/left hand pitcher from Newman Smith HS, residing in Carrollton, TX. Jackson has a lean, athletic, lively, lithely build on his 6'2" 170 lb. frame. Jackson is an interesting player to watch and dream a bit on. He is still a bit raw but has some tools and an athletic look that will continue to draw attention. He was ranked #67 among PG National Top 100 position players. At the plate Jackson showed good bat speed and an aggressive nature. There is some life in his ba and his hands work very well. He did not have a lot of good contact in the games, but Jackson is going to hit. He can be short to the ball, it is a matter of developing a better timing mechanism for him. In the outfield he showed plus raw arm strength, with a quick arm and on-line, low trajectory throws. He is an athletic moving outfielder and defensively he can play any of the three OF spots. On the mound Jackson's raw arm strength only translated to an 85-88 mph fastball. He has an over the top slot with a stabbing backside arm action, not creating as much arm speed as he does in the outfield where his feet help him set up to throw better. He threw a big curveball and threw it for strikes, with feel. It is not likely that Jackson does much pitching after high school, but if for some reason he does not hit, it is an option. Though his body type and movements look like he would be a plus athlete, he ran 4.59 home/1st with a 6.95 60. Jackson is still coming into his own and should be followed closely. He is suited better for the college game at this point, but will draw pro interest this spring.
