2003 South Top Prospect Showcase   Jul 27, 2003
PG Grade: 9.5
Easily the #1 shortstop at the South Top Prospect showcase and possibly one of the best in the nation. Widmann showed easy smooth actions and a strong arm. He only ran a 7.06 in the 60 but he shows very good instincts and range in the field. He has soft hands and can make the throw from the hole. With the bat he kept his hands inside the ball, showed a very nice swing that created good bat speed. He drove the ball deep and hard consistently showing some excellent wood bat power potential. Definite big time player! At 6'1/180 he looks like a big league infielder. He should be a star player at the next level be it pro ball or highest level college.
