Sam Janca is a 2006 catcher/right handed pitcher from Georgetown, TX with a tall solid body showing good core strength at 6-2, 190 lbs. Behind the plate, he receives the ball with soft hands and he frames the pitches nicely. He has a strong arm at 75 mph with a very good pop time of 1.91. He hits from a square stance and showed good gap power from an uppercut swing path. He generates good bat speed and he has the potential to hit for big power. He pitches from a ¾ slot with a high effort delivery. His fastball topped out at 87 mph with slight run. His slider was at 76 mph with good sweeping action and decent depth. He went right after hitters and worked fast. He has solid tools and he has the potential to be a 2-way player at the next level. Sam is a very good student.
