2011 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Dane Mehring is a 2011 LHP with 5-9 150 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Xavier HS. Small framed build, young look. Leg raise delivery, a bit cross bodied on release, long arm laid back on takaway, 3/4's release point. Low 70's fastball, topped at 74 mph, mostly straight with occasional flat run, firm change up, soft curveball with some depth, should throw curveball more often to keep hitters off-balance, threw strikes. Spread stance hitting, good hand use, loose extension out front, squares up well, sound fundamental swing.
