Esteban Chapa is a 2014 C/RHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Palmview, TX who attends La Joya HS. Medium athletic frame, some present strength with more to come. Right handed hitter, aggressive swing with good bat speed, line drive plane, ball comes off the barrel hard, stays short and crisp to the ball, good extension out front, has hitting tools to keep improving. 7.51 runner, has raw arm strength behind the plate, receives the ball cleanly, long extended release hinders pop times, can make adjustments. Also pitched, balanced on line delivery, high 3/4's arm slot, effort on release. Fastball touched 79 mph, mostly straight, upper 60's curveball has some 11/5 shape. Bat is carrying tool at present. Good student.
