Jose Mesa Jr. is a 2012 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Miramar, FL who attends Flanagan HS. Big strong physical build, same build as his dad. Slow paced delivery, early separation, stays tall on his backside, works downhill, high 3/4's slot, arm works well coming through, release point not consistent. Fastball to 91 mph, mostly straight, maintains velocity well, gets his fastball down to the corners, primary fastball pitcher, curveball with early break, likely slider candidate in the future. Right handed hitter, power swing and approach, can hit the ball a long way when squared, high hands and long smooth swing. Shows athleticism and quick feet, good glove at first base.
