PG Grade: 8.5
Garcia is an extra strong 6-2, 220 lb junior catcher from Miami. He’s a bit raw on the skills side but has top prospect tools to develop if he has the right desire and coaching. Garcia has excellent arm strength at 80 mph and only slow footwork keeps his pop times in the 2.0 range. At the plate, Garcia hits from an open to closed approach with very little lower half involvement. His hand and upper body strength help give him very good bat speed and he has the lift in his swing and strength to develop big time power potential in the future. Garcia is an aggressive hitter who swings hard, but he shows good plate coverage and bat control for a hitter with his approach and hit the ball hard against live pitching. Overall, there is plenty of potential here. Garcia is also a good student.
