Grant Holmes is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Conway, SC who attends Conway HS. Strong physical build, mature look. Good use of strong lower half in delivery, mid 3/4's arm slot, has calmed down delivery and effort over the last year, long arm and tends to show ball in back, very fast and clean arm coming through, ball explodes out of his hand. Easy fastball velocity, up to 96 mph, gets downhill to the bottom of the zone, ball jumps on hitters. Throws curveball with slider velocity, gets over top of it with power downer break at times, swing and miss pitch, has bite and depth. Did not throw change up. Elite level stuff, takes the ball and challenges hitters to make contact, few up to the challenge at this level. Two-way player, left handed hitter, upright approach, gets to his front side early and looks to pull, hands pretty short to the ball and long out front, big power when squared. Very good student, verbal commitment to Florida.
