Anthony Shimkus is a 2012 RHP/MIF with a 6-3 160 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Delasalle. Lean, slender build with room to fill out. Throws from low 3/4 slot with loose arm action on the mound. Short arm action in the back with easy velocity. Gets ahead of hitters well and mixes pitches well. Fastball sat comfortably low 80s, topping at 85. Short breaking slider at 71 is his #2 pitch with good feel. Changeup has good arm action and sink. Has deception and knows how to pitch. On the infield, short, choppy steps with ability to move well and solid arm action with strength. Very wide stance at the plate with good contact skills and aggressiveness in his wing. Line drive swing with strength to the pull side. Solid all around player with potential. Very good student.
