PG Grade: 7
Reed Leonard is a 2007 RHP/OF from St. Francis HS in Monrovia, CA, with a 5'10", 165 lb. frame. Leonard is a young player with a good set of tools. He ran a 7.39-sixty on a slow track, but showed his quickness with a 4.40 home to first time. Defensively he has good arm strength from the outfield and the ball comes out of his hand well with good arm speed. At the plate he hits from the right side with an upright stance and a short stride and compact swing. Leonard has good bat speed, and has a line drive swing path the produced some solid line drive hits during the showcase games. He hits the ball well back through the middle, and centers the ball well. On the mound he has good delivery mechanics with a fastball that topped out at 80 mph. He also mixed in a late breaking curve ball at 69 mph, and showed a good feel for his change up at 68 mph. Leonard is also a very good student.
