Nick Salahub is a 2006 RHP/1B from Deer Valley HS in Phoenix, AZ, with a 6'8", 230 lb. frame, and was named to the Top Prospect Team. For a young man of his size, Salahub has great coordination and is very athletic. On the mound he has good balance over the rubber with a slow, controlled delivery. He throws from a 3/4 arm a slot with good arm speed and finishes his pitches well. His fastball topped out at 83 mph, and he should be throwing harder in the near future. He also mixes in a 71 mph curveball and 71 mph change up with good arm speed. Salahub has good control of all his pitches. As projectable as he is on the mound, his bat might be his best tool. This big young man has plus bat speed and really puts a charge in balls, especially on the inner half. Salahub has an advanced approach with good hands and a controlled aggressiveness at the plate. He consistently hits the ball hard and shows good present raw power. He projects to be a middle of the order run producer at the next level. Salahub is a two-way prospect that needs to be followed closely. He is also an excellent student.
