2006 Academic Showcase
Michael Macdonald is a 2006 3B with a 5'10'', 205 lb. frame from Roswell GA, who attends Centennial HS. He has a wide shouldered frame and is extra strong. MacDonald is a 2006 prospect who will be attending West Point in the fall. He has good mobility for his size and ran the 60 in 7.33. MacDonald's arm strength is solid for third base as well and he has the tools to stay at third base in the future. MacDonald's big tool is his bat, not surprising considering his raw strength. He has a power approach, with a dip in his back shoulder and an aggressive upper cut swing. During batting practice MacDonald drove the ball very hard and showed plus raw power. During games he hit line drives to all fields and stayed inside the ball most of the time, showing some hitting versatility. He has an idea how to hit and should continue to develop. MacDonald is an excellent student.
