Matthew Redding is a 2006 C/3B/1B from Nease HS in Jacksonville Beach, FL, with a 6'1", 205 frame. He ran the 60 in 7.41 and threw 78 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.99. Redding threw 2.04 during life game competition and was impressive in his overall defense. He has quick actions and soft hands receiving the ball. Offensively, Redding had a very good showcase. He has a very consistent, low maintenance swing that gets the bat head to the ball quickly and efficiently. Redding was on everything the entire event and was drilling line drives to all fields. His short stride and quick hands enable him to make late adjustments to pitches. His power is gap to gap right now but good develop more in the future as he gets more repetitions. Redding really improved his stock in Atlanta and impressed everyone with his skills. He can play!
