Manny Cardeiro is a 2006 1B from Mission Bay HS, residing in San Diego, CA, with a 6'3", 202 lb. frame. He has a large, broad build. Though he has lumbering type movements, the size of his feet (appeared to be at least 16s) indicate that more growth is still possible. Cardeiro hits from a square stance and takes an aggressive swing. Once he starts his swing, he displays plus hand speed into and through through the hitting zone with plus extension through contact. There is some leverage and good balance in his hack. Cardeiro has strong hands and wrists, evident when he seems to flick the bat and the ball jumps. There is no doubt that his hands work. He also shows a good oppo approach and has present day power to all fields. Once his hands start they work, the challenge is getting them to start on time against 86+ mph. Defensively he lacks range but has an accurate arm and decent body control within his range. Cardeiro presents a large target and has good hands, though his feet and agility are a concern. However, this game is about hitting and Cardeiro's power potential makes him an intriguing follow for anyone that sees him.
