Kevin Silvett is a 2007 catcher from Torrey Pines HS in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, with a 5'10", 185 lb. frame. He has a medium frame and strong athletic build to hold more muscle in the future. Defensively he has good arm speed with a strong arm that can control a running game. He posted solid pop times, and his feet work well blocking balls in the dirt. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who shows an average base in the box with a slight weight shift and present strength to generate gap to gap power. At times Silvett tends to spin on his back side and this causes him to lose some power and make him pull balls that should go towards the middle of the diamond. He has enough strength to make up for it, and become a quality offensive producing bat at the present level that should get interest at the next level. He is also a very good student.
