2005 Sunshine East Showcase
Black is a 5-11, 200 lb senior primary catcher from Michigan who also played outfield at the showcase. Black threw the ball 79 mph from the outfield with a short arm action. Defensively, would like to have evaluated him as a catcher to get the best look at him. At the plate, Black has a nice swing plane down through the ball. Black has good balance thoughout his swing. Black has a powerful swing and showed the ability to hit to all fields. Black showed very good bat speed at the showcase and should hit at the next level. Good student.
