Stryker Salyer is a 2009 C/OF/P with a 5'11'', 154 lb. frame from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who attends Blackhawk Christian High School. Salyer is a young player (2009) with a lean and athletic frame. Defensively he has quick feet behind the plate that allows him to block balls in the dirt well and produce pop times consistently under 2.00. Salyer has a good release, and he is accurate with throws that are on the bag. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance and uses a leg lift trigger. Salyer uses his hands well in his swing, especially for a 2009 player. He shows bat speed through the hitting zone at times with a line drive swing plane. He is a contact hitter who will put the ball in play. Also shows instincts on the bases. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle. He gets run on his fastball that topped out at 76 mph. He also mixed in a 62 mph curve and a 67 mph change. Has solid control of all three pitches. Salyer is also a good student.
