Alcantar is a young catcher who shows good quickness and actions behind the plate. He has good arm strength but throws uphill off his back foot and loses a lot of his natural arm strength. If Alcantar moved forward and through the ball when throwing, he’d chop off a big chunk of his 2.13 pop time. Alcantar’s bat has a chance to play. He has some natural lift to his swing and hit the ball solidly in game situations. He ran the 60 in 7.70.
