John Large -- Large is sophomore right hander from Michigan with a slim upper half and some strength in his lower half. He threw 5 innings in Fort Myers and showed us a very good feel for pitching for his age. Large’s mechanics are smooth and athletic and he uses his strong legs well in his delivery. His fastball topped out at 79 mph and had good cutting action to it at times. Large’s curveball was 62-64 mph and he was able to command it in the strike zone and throw it behind in counts. His 69 mph change up also had some quality to it. This young man should keep getting better over the next few years. He’s a strong student, also. Projects very nicely.
