Dyer is a catcher with some defensive ability and a big bat. He did not show a plus MLB arm but with quick footwork and a fast release he managed to keep his pop times around 2.0 earning a 1.96 in the workout and a 2.04 in a game. He has excellent blocking ability and mobility behind the plate. His most impressive tool was the bat. He showed a nice smooth swing hitting the ball with authority. He turns his hips quickly and generates good bat speed coming from a nice loaded position with a powerful stroke. His bat alone should get him some serious looks from good college programs.
