PG Grade: 7
James is a 2005 grad from Mount Carmel High School in the San Diego, California area. He stands 6'3" 185 lbs with a tall slender frame and build with long arms and legs. James showed some raw power on the pull side during batting practice, hitting some crisp line drives that had carry to them. As he gets older the added strength is really going to help him hit the ball harder and farther. James had some nice agility and soft hands both at first base and third base. He did a good job of attacking ground balls and handling throws in the dirt. On the mound, James showed ability to get hitters out with his knuckleball, which was one of the better high school knuckleballs we've seen recently. James fastball topped out at 79 mph and could improve with added strength. That knuckler will work at most any level.
