Rule was one of many pitchers in Chapel Hill who touched 87-88 mph. What we liked most about Rule was that he threw a heavy sinking fastball from a very deceptive delivery and hitters were generally overmatched on the pitch. Rule is primarily a fastball/sinkerball pitcher right now. His change up was 73 mph but Rule didn’t use it much, and he threw a 68 mph curveball. He might think about trying a slider in the future. At 6-2, 190, Rule has a nice pitcher’s body that can add some strength. He's also a pretty good hitter, but the arm is his best tool. Jake is an excellent student.
