Michael Squires is a 2009 3B/1B with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Woodstock, GA who attends Etowah HS. He has a strong, thick build, especially in the lower half, and is pretty physically mature. He was very solid defensively at third base, with good footwork to the ball, a quick transfer and some carry to his throws. Squires had a sound, balanced approach at the plate from the right side. He has some wrap to start his swing but has quick hands to the ball and uses his strong lower half to help generate power in his swing. He extends well out front and hammered some balls to right center field. Squires his under control and should be able to handle higher quality pitching in the future with his present swing and strength. He's a solid all around player. Squires is also a good student.
