Patrick Stover is a 2009 OF/1B with a 6'4'', 205 lb. frame from Rocklin, CA who attends Rocklin HS. He was selected as a Top '09 Prospect at this event and has big things ahead of him. Stover has a rangy build on a big frame that is going to develop into a power body. He is presently strong and has a lot of physical projectability. Stover is an outstanding power hitting prospect. He is already a physical hitter and he has barely scratched the surface of his ability. He consistently puts the meat of the barrel on the ball and drives the ball with authority to all parts of the yard. His long term power potential is quite large. He keeps his hands back on breaking balls and generally has a really good approach that is quiet and explosive. Defensively his throws had some carry and he has a solid arm that will play in left field, where his bat will also play. He could also move to 1st base at some point. In any case, Stover is a legitimate power prospect, at the major D1 level and someday beyond. He is going to get pro attention in the spring of '09.
