Christian Helsel is a 2012 3B/MIF, RHP with a 6-0 205 lb. frame from Altoona, PA who attends Altoona Area HS. Compact medium build, plenty of present strength. 7.11 runner, good footwork at third base, strong arm, accurate throws with a quick exchange and release, would be interesting to see behind the plate. Right handed hitter, still start with the bat, strong hands generate good bat speed, swing is a bit rotational but keeps it short due to his strength, aggressive swing, barrels up well, solid line drive contact, shows some lift at times and can drive the gaps. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi.
