2003 World Showcase
Strickland is a big country strong RHP who should not be overlooked for this years draft. If he is, people will be sorry and may have to pay dearly after he's done in college. If he were three inches taller, we would be talking first couple rounds. This is a power pitcher. 90-91 heater with lots of explosive life. 78 mph slider that will become a 80+ power pitch. Also showed a good biting curveball. He has thick strong legs and he uses them very well. He is very physically mature, but he will tack on a few more MPHs before he's done. Mid 90s seems pretty certain in the future. It wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see Strickland come out in the Spring throwing mid 90s. Could be an immediate closer in college and could be groomed that way in pro ball.
