Derrick Freeman is a 5'9" 170 pound 2006 middle infielder and right handed pitcher from Livermore, California who attends Granada High School. He is a very good student and it shows on the field with his good instincts and awareness on the field. He ran a 7.05 60 and threw 76 mph across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an open stance with some gather with the body. Derrick has good bat speed with some strength on occasion when the ball jumps to the gaps. In the game, he showed how bad he wanted to play when he beat out a ground ball to third, running directly out of the box like he wanted it all the way. In the field, he shows a short release and sure hands with some athletic balance. On the mound, Freeman showed a high energy type tempo with good arm speed and the ability to be effective when he can keep the ball down in the zone.
