2019 Top Prospects

Nick Gottilla  LHP - 2019 - Davenport, IA
University of Central Florida

Gottilla, a 6-foot, 170-pound UCF commit took the mound on Sunday and was lights out in three innings of work. He maintained his 81 to 84 mile per hour fastball throughout showing good life and command of both edges of the plate. He also flashed a breaking ball with solid shape that generated a good amount of swing and miss.

Javier Martinez  3B - 2019 - Fuquay Varina, NC
Catawba Valley CC

Javier Martinez was impressive in every aspect of his game over the weekend. The 6-foot, 225-pound third baseman showed off his arm strength during defensive workouts, topping out at 87 miles per hour while showing his solid glove actions. That arm strength translated well on the mound as he was sitting in the mid-80's and touching 86 miles per hour while mixing in an above average breaking ball. Where he stood out most, however, was with the bat as he took an exciting round of batting practice showing off some solid jump off the barrel.

Evan Shaw  LHP - 2019 - Fridley, MN

Shaw was among the leaders in outfield velocity throwing 87 miles per hour to the plate. He's aggressive to the ball and works through well while staying online to the bag. He was also among the top of the leader boards running a 6.99 60-yard dash showing off his athleticism.


2020 Top Prospects

Carter Baumler  RHP - 2020 - Grimes, IA
TCU

Baumler really put on display why he is one of the top rated righthanded pitchers in the 2020 class. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound TCU commit worked in the upper 80's and hit 91 miles per hour several times. He's able to add run to the fastball when he chooses. He flashes a sharp 10-to-4 curveball that has a chance to be a very good pitch in his arsenal. Baumler will also go to his sinking changeup to both righthanders and lefties for a high amount of swing and miss.

Alec Nigut  OF - 2020 - Des Moines, IA
Iowa

At 6-foot-1, 185-pounds the Iowa commit is a very good athlete on the baseball field. He excels in almost every facet of the game with clean actions in the outfield working into accurate throws topping at 87 miles per hour. In the box Nigut has a knack for getting his barrel on the ball with consistency working hard line contact to all fields.

Tyler Tscherter  SS - 2020 - Reinbeck, IA
Missouri State/Kirkwood CC

Tyler Tscherter continues to be impressive at PG events. On the mound Tyler employs a short compact arm action throwing from a side arm slot creating a lot of deception. Tyler showed a two pitch mix for strikes with a fastball up to 85 with hard running life and a sharp slider at 76 miles per hour. During infield workouts Tyler showed good footwork and clean exchanges with good arm strength topping out at 88 across the infield. At the plate he flashed a line drive plane with consistent loud middle of the field line drives.

Joseph Harris  3B - 2020 - Marshalltown, IA
Morningside College

Joseph Harris really stands out with his 6-foot-3 frame over at first base showing clean footwork while moving around the bag. His arm action paired with his strong body calls for more in the way of velocity on his throws topping out at 81 miles per hour. He also stood out with the stick in batting practice generating loud contact that translated well to his in-game swings.

Andrue Henry  1B - 2020 - Dubuque, IA
Kirkwood CC

Henry is a familiar face when it comes to Perfect Game events and he impressed yet again at the Spring Top. He utilizes a simple and quiet approach at the plate able to control the barrel well while flashing some power potential at times. Over at first base, Henry has a smooth glove with a high knowledge of how to work around the base.

Nick Banowetz  C - 2020 - Robins, IA
Southeastern CC

Nick Banowetz stood out during defensive catcher workouts posting a 1.82 pop time and topping out at 82 miles per hour to second base. Banowetz showed smooth hands and a quick transfer with polished footwork. At the plate he flashed the ability to drive the ball to and through the gaps with power.

Soren Grant  C - 2020 - Minneapolis, MN

The Minneapolis, MN native turned some heads during the batting practice portion of the event showing off a naturally lifted plane and working elevated contact to the pull side. He swings the bat with the intent to drive the ball to the deep parts of the field and wants to do damage with every swing.


2021 Top Prospects

Evan Borst  RHP - 2021 - Des Moines, IA
Nebraska/Iowa Central CC

The lean, projectable 2021 grad showcased an athletic delivery with good arm speed. He also showcased a three pitch mix including a fastball with running action at 87 miles per hour, a sharp breaking ball at 70 miles per hour, and an interesting fading change up at 76 miles per hour. He showed the ability to work all three for strikes.

Sky Jones  RHP - 2021 - Burlingame, CA

A very strong 2021 grad enjoyed a good weekend in Cedar Rapids. On the mound Sky showed a heavy fastball with late running life up to 86 miles per hour complemented by a sharp late breaking curveball at 70 miles per hour. During infield workouts he showed clean footwork and glove actions as well as plus arm strength topping out at 88 miles per hour across the infield.

Logan Runde  RHP - 2021 - Peosta, IA
Florida International/Iowa Western CC

Runde has been impressive all spring and continue into this weekend. On the mound the very projectable righty showed the ability to locate two pitches in the zone with consistency with a fastball topping out at 84 miles per hour and a sharp knuckle curve at 71 miles per hour. Behind the plate Runde showed his athleticism with smooth footwork and glove actions to go along with plus arm strength topping out at 82 miles per hour and posting a 1.89 pop time. At the plate the switch hitter showed the ability to drive the ball with a strong swing with good bat speed from both sides of the plate.

Graham Macneil  RHP - 2021 - Whitby, ON CAN

Macneil has shown some increased strength in his frame since we last saw him standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing a solid 210-pounds. This added strength has certainly helped him generate a higher velocity with his fastball as he was consistently touching 87 miles per hour. He was able to work around the knees for most of his performance with both the fastball as well as with his sharp 11-to-5 curveball in the mid-70's.

Owen Puk  RHP - 2021 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Florida International

Owen Puks' numbers continue to climb with each PG event he attends. The projectable righty was impressive on the mound over the weekend filling up the zone with three different pitches including a fastball up to 82 miles per hour, a sharp 12-6 curveball at 68 miles per hour and a change up with good sink at 75 miles per hour. Owen showed arm strength from the outfield and infield during defensive workouts topping out at 86 miles per hour from the outfield and 85 miles per hour across the infield.

Sam Petersen  SS - 2021 - Huxley, IA
Iowa

Peterson was solid both offensively and defensively, impressing during infield workouts showcasing quick transfer and smooth athletic plays working to the base. At the plate the righty displayed an equal ability to put the barrel on the ball as well as drive it to the gaps. He also ran the fastest 60 time, posting a 6.78.

Keian Secrist  RHP - 2021 - North Liberty, IA
Kirkwood CC

Secrist showcased one of the better arms among the 2021 graduates at the event over the weekend. Consistently touching low to mid-80's whether it be on the mound or from the field. Topping at 83 miles per hour from the infield, Secrist showed off smooth transfers and a quick release.


2022 Top Prospects

Sam Wilt  RHP - 2022 - Anamosa, IA
Kirkwood CC

Sam Wilt showed plus power throughout the weekend. During batting practice he showed the ability to drive the ball into and through the gaps with authority. In games Sam showed plus power to the pull side with the ability to turn the barrel head at contact. On the mound showed the ability to throw consistent strikes with good control to both sides of the plate with a fastball topping out at 83 miles per hour.

Kael Kolarik  SS - 2022 - Indianola, IA

Kael really showed off his top end athleticism with a 6.95 60-yard dash at the Spring Top event over the weekend. At 6-foot, 183-pounds Kolarik has a projectable frame that should only continue to improve. His smooth and strong arm action paired with clean glovework should allow him to stay on the left side of the field, with throws topping out at 83 miles per hour.

John Klosterman  C - 2022 - Iowa City, IA
Uncommitted

Klosterman excelled behind the plate both in work outs as well as in game. Posting a 1.98 pop time John found himself with one of the quicker times down to second base, as well as ranking high in the category among all 2022 catchers. With the bat he showed a linear swing that produced line drives consistently

Gable Mitchell  SS - 2022 - Iowa City, IA
Iowa

Gable flashed athletic actions all over the field starting off by posting a 7.05 second sixty yard dash. In the infield Mitchell showed aggressive actions working to and through the ball with soft hands and good arm strength while topping out at 82 miles per hour across the infield. Showed the ability to create bat speed in a gap to gap approach with present pull side power.
