2019 Top Prospects

Ried Dittner  RHP - 2019 - Apex, NC
Uncommitted

Dittner posted the top pitching velocity of the event as the righthander ran his fastball up to 90 mph on multiple occasions. The 6-foot-4 righthander has an immensely physical presence on the mound and from a higher arm slot is able to generate excellent downhill plane to both sides. Dittner mixed in a solid breaking ball that flashed tight spin and tilt with god depth to it.

Xander Hamilton  RHP - 2019 - Raleigh, NC
Appalachian State

Hamilton has one of the highest ceilings and flashed the top-flight talent throughout the weekend. The arm strength is very good as he was registered in the upper-80s from both the outfield and infield with a tremendously leveraged swing with big power from the left side. Physical and projectable righthanded pitcher with good feel for a hard slider and a high velocity ceiling.

Jackson Reid  RHP - 2019 - Mooresville, NC
Lenoir-Rhyne

Reid was one of the more projectable arms of the event with a 6-foot-6, 175-pound frame and extra long limbs. He worked his fastball in the low- to mid 80s with a loose and easy arm action. The curveball projects nicely with tight rotation and sweeping action and he turned in a very strong performance.

Chandler Williford  RHP - 2019 - Newton Grove, NC
Campbell

Williford showed a very loose and quick arm with an advanced feel for his repertoire. The fastball worked up to 85 mph and he held his velocity well while the pitch flashed nasty cutting life to it. Showed a curveball with good depth and quality 11/5 shape and flashed a changeup thrown with a similar arm speed and release point with good downward tumble.

Jonathan Spillman  OF - 2019 - Jamestown, NC

Spillman stood out as one of the highest ceiling offensive presences from over the weekend. With a strong and projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame, Spillman generates excellent extension through the point of contact with an easy and fluid swing path. The swing is naturally lofted and he showed good power potential and can drive the ball well to both gaps.

Christian Gordon  LHP - 2019 - Monroe, VA
Liberty University

Although Gordon did not pitch during the event, he showed very high potential as a position player. Gordon posted the top 60-yard dash time of the event at 6.66 seconds and the arm strength played well from the outfield, topping out at 87 mph. He has a compact swing with requisite bat speed to create line drives.

Gavin Younce  C - 2019 - Chesapeake, VA
Uncommitted

Younce stood out as one of the top defensive catchers from the event showing good balance and explosive throwing mechanics from the position. He also worked with twitchy and fluid actions from the infield while showing a loose, repeatable swing with excellent barrel control at the plate.

Keenan Williams  C - 2019 - Gordonsville, VA
Uncommitted

Williams posted one of the best pop times of the event turning in a 1.94 second recording. The catch-and-throw skills stand out with quick and fluid actions from behind the plate and he showed good offensive prowess while flashing leverage and bat speed through extension.

Jacob Williams  3B - 2019 - Lynchburg, VA
Middle Tennessee State

Williams displayed some of the biggest strength at the plate of anyone during the weekend. At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds he showed tremendous leverage in his swing with the ability to impact the ball hard with strength through the point of contact.

Wes Bowlin  1B - 2019 - Indian Trail, NC
Queens University of Charlotte

Bowlin's offensive game translated well to live at-bats as he was one of the more productive hitters of the entire event. The primary firstbaseman showed good lift and a direct path to contact while being able to deposit line drives to all fields.

Tom Grose  SS - 2019 - Jamestown, NC
UNC-Greensboro

Grose was impressive all weekend long and he showed definite skills both in the infield and at the plate. The exchanges and releases were both quick from the infield with twitchy actions to make plays quickly. The strength showed well in the batter's box with a pull side approach and requisite bat speed to create lofted line drives.

Richard Hooks  OF - 2019 - Cameron, NC
Bluefield University

Hooks showed off his athletic talents by excelling all over the diamond over the weekend. He turned in one of the better run times at 6.76 seconds along with athletic actions and quality instincts from both the outfield and infield. The switch hitter showed a balanced swing with quick hands from both sides.


2020 Top Prospects

Collin Bosley-Smith  RHP - 2020 - Washington, DC
Duke

Bosley-Smith showed an advanced repertoire and feel for mixing speeds with a compact and quick arm action. The delivery is athletic and repeatable with the ability to generate plane and occasional cutting action on his fastball. Bosley-Smith projects exceptionally well moving forward and showed the ability to manipulate spin with both a curveball and slider.

Nathan Cmeyla  C - 2020 - Ashburn, VA
Dartmouth

Cmeyla had the highest catcher velocity with throws down to the bag with good carry and topped out at 78 mph. He generated good explosion through his lower half with clean and fast footwork with quick releases. Cmeyla also showed tools at the plate with good present bat speed and the ability to lift the ball well for fly balls with carry and a gap-to-gap line drive approach.

Tommy O'Rourke  RHP - 2020 - Morristown, NJ
Stanford

O'Rourke showed off premier tools on the mound and the arm strength played well all over the field. He touched 87 mph from a full arm circle and showed good extension down the mound with good downhill plane. O'Rourke has confidence in his breaking ball and created hard hit, line drive contact from the plate.

Gavyn Byrd  RHP - 2020 - Oak Ridge, NC
North Carolina Central

Byrd displayed one of the loosest and easier swings of the event with easy barrel skills and the ability to drive the ball well. He is a good athlete with one of the better 60-yard dash times of the event and showed off his arm strength and athleticism from the outfield as well. Byrd also showed good tools on the mound leaving open the possibility of two-way potential at the next level.

Drew Bryan  C - 2020 - Sanford, NC
University of Chicago

Bryan is another catcher who stood out with the fastest pop time of 1.88 for the weekend. He showed versatility in terms of position but stood out at his primary position with good arm strength and aggressiveness as he backpicked several runners while throwing others out trying to advance or steal bases.

Hogan Stallings  1B - 2020 - Wake Forest, NC
Lenoir-Rhyne

Stallings showed some of the best power of the event as the 6-foot-4, 235-pound lefthanded hitter was able to impact the ball with tremendous strength. The swing is naturally lofted and he showed good bat speed and torque through his hips to lift the ball to the pull side with excellent power projection on the swing.

David Keith  RHP - 2020 - Fuquay Varina, NC
High Point

Keith showed excellent two-way ability and feel for using all of his pitches regardless of the count. The fastball was consistently in the low- to mid 80s with good life to the arm side and he could spot the pitch up on both sides of the plate. Keith showed quickness to his hands in a direct path to contact and utilized his lower half well through a linear shift that created torque.

Case Stroup  LHP - 2020 - Holly Springs, NC
UNC-Wilmington/Brunswick CC

Stroup's arm strength stood out in the outfield and on the mound as the primary pitcher was very impressive. He has easy and fluid actions in the outfield with throws that were low to the ground with good carry. He showed a compact and repeatable delivery on the mound from a shorter arm action and a cuvreball that projects nicely.


2021 Top Prospects

Cyle Phelan  LHP - 2021 - Fuquay Varina, NC
UNC-Wilmington

Phelan showed outstanding two-way ability with smooth mechanics on the mound with a powerful, leveraged swing from the left side. The southpaw has a loose arm action with good run on his fastball that was up to 84 mph. High ceiling talent on the mound with hitting skills that displayed a fluid swing path with natural loft and a very projectable power profile.

Ayden Edwards  C - 2021 - Graham, NC
East Carolina

Edwards showed advanced catch-and-throw skills for someone his age with sub-2.00 second pop times and fluid motions. He has good downhill arm strength to second base with a strong lower half that allows him to gain ground well. Edwards has a pull side approach with advanced bat speed and the ability to create lift and leverage in the swing.
