2020 Top Prospects

Ryan Sveningson  RHP - 2020 - Ladera Ranch, CA
UC Irvine

The lanky, projectable 2020 grad showed a compact arm action with good arm speed and the ability to throw two pitches for a strike consistently. Showed a heavy fastball up to 90 miles per hour complemented with a curveball that had good depth up to 78 miles per hour.

Jadon Bercovich  RHP - 2020 - Reno, NV
San Diego State

The physical 2020 grad was impressive on the mound this weekend featuring an athletic delivery with a whippy arm action and good arm speed. Featured a very heavy fastball creating a lot of swing and miss up in the zone at 91 miles per hour to go along with a sharper slider at 78 miles per hour thrown to end at bats and a bigger 11/5 curveball thrown at 73 miles per hour used more as a control pitch. Ben Grable  SS - 2020 - Pasadena, CA
Northwestern

Was an ultimate utility guy for his team this weekend. Had a great workout running a 7.16 60-yard dash, throwing the ball 87 across the infield and adding some clean actions with the glove, and showing off the present bat speed with an impressive display in batting practice. Grable also turned heads on the mound, running a heavy fastball up to 91. Grable has a fast arm and overpowered hitters throughout his outing.

Grant Weiss  C - 2020 - Valencia, CA
Loyola Marymount

Started the weekend in defensive workouts by showing impressive arm strength and smooth hands behind the plate topping out at 79 miles per hour and posting a 1.90 second pop time. At the plate Weiss features a linear weight shift creating good leverage and bat speed. Flashed consistent loud fly ball and line drive contact to the pull side driving the ball with authority during batting practice and games.

CJ Glenn  RHP - 2020 - Phoenix, AZ

The Phoenix native was impressive on the mound showing an athletic delivery with good arm speed throwing three pitches for strikes consistently in any count. Features a fastball with late run up to 87 miles per hour complemented by a sweeping curveball at 74 miles per hour and a late fading change up at 78 miles per hour.

Malikai Wickley  1B - 2020 - Los Angeles, CA
Southern California

The strong 2020 grad started the weekend off by posting a 7.29 second sixty-yard dash showing his athleticism to go along with his strong frame. At first base Wickley flashed soft hands with athletic actions working to the ball to go along with good arm strength topping out at 86 miles per hour from first. At the plate showed the ability to throw the barrel head with good bat speed creating consistently loud driven contact to and through the gaps in the outfield.

Scott Ellis  RHP - 2020 - Newbury Park, CA
Oregon

The uncommitted 2020 put on an impressive display of arm strength from both the outfield and the mound this weekend. Ellis works through the ball well and ran it up to 93 from the outfield with some good carry to bases. On the mound, Ellis was able to keep hitters off balance with an excellent three pitch mix. The fastball worked up to 88 in his outing, and his changeup turned heads with some hard and late run when it was at its best.

Jacob Sharp  OF - 2020 - Whittier, CA
Hawaii

Showed his athletic actions all over the field with projectable tools at multiple positions. Listed as a primary outfielder showing clean fluid actions with present arm strength topping out at 87 miles per hour. Also showed quick, compact actions from behind the plate topping at 79 miles per hour and posting a 1.96 pop time. On the mound showed athletic actions with a fast arm flashing a heavy fastball up to 88 miles per hour and a curveball creating swing and miss at 72 miles per hour. Also showed a balanced approach at the plate with a clean, repeatable linear barrel plane.

Adam Arroyo  C - 2020 - Laguna Niguel, CA
New Mexico State

The 5 foot 11, 180-pound catcher showed excellent defensive actions from behind the plate posting an event best 84 mile per hour and 1.81 pop time from behind the plate. Arroyo also shows high level hit skills with the ability to control the barrel through out the zone and work to all fields with pop.

Maxwell Leuga  OF - 2020 - Las Vegas, NV
College of Southern Nevada

Leuga, a Las Vegas native, posted a 6.95 sixty yard dash while topping at 89 miles per hour from the outfield. The 2020 grad also impressed at the plate showing a balanced swing with good feel for the barrel to all quadrants of the zone.

Joseph Wiersma  RHP - 2020 - Orange, CA

The 2020 right hander shows a lean frame on the mound with room to add strength. Consistently located a three pitch mix within the strike zone. Fastball generated heavy life that jumped on hitters up to 88 miles per hour. Showed the ability to locate a curveball up to 70 miles per hour and a sinking change up at 77 miles per hour within the zone as well in both positive and negative counts.

EQ Workinger  OF - 2020 - Encinitas, CA

Workinger posted a 6.90 sixty-yard dash while showing smooth, clean actions defensively with good carry to the bag, topped at 87 miles per hour. Offensively, Workinger displayed very quick hands through the zone and generated good barrel whip at extension. When squared, the 2020 grad has the strength and barrel speed to generated very loud carry to the pull side gap.

Isaiah Cortez  LHP - 2020 - Norco, CA
North Carolina at Pembroke

Cortez worked up the 85 miles per hour while on the mound showing the ability to work to each side of the plate. The 2020 grad effectively stayed ahead of hitters and induced weak contact. Cortez also created some deception to hitter by utilized a breaking ball that had varying depth and tilt.

Matthew Costopoulos  2B - 2020 - Manhattan Beach, CA

The Manhattan Beach native showed mature, polished actions on both sides of the ball throughout the weekend. At the plate, the 2020 grad displayed a simple, direct barrel plane with a high contact approach. Costopoulous also flashed the ability to turn the barrel on pitches located to the inner half of the plate and drive them to pull side with some authority.

Liam Critchett  1B - 2020 - Redondo Beach, CA
Loyola Marymount

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound first baseman showed good raw power at the plate throughout the weekend. Critchett utilizes a naturally leveraged swing plane with present bat speed and strength through the hitting zone. When squared, the 2020 grad produced easy pop off the barrel that carries well into each outfield gap.

Bretton Edwards  RHP - 2020 - Santa Monica, CA

The 2020 righthander was able to throw three quality pitches for strikes on Saturday, keep hitters off balance throughout. Edwards sat 82-85 with a fastball that he could work to both sides of the plate, and flashed both a curveball and changeup as well. The changeup was the better of the two secondary pitches with some late run and sink to get swings and misses.

Jimmy Gomez  SS - 2020 - Fresno, CA

The 5-Foot-8 shortstop displayed clean, athletic actions throughout the weekend. Posted a 7.14 sixty-yard dash while showing impressive arm strength across the infield at 87 miles per hour. At the plate, The Fresno, CA native utilized a balanced approach with a direct, compact hand path to contact. Gomez consistently barreled the baseball throughout the weekend producing sharp line drives to the middle of the field and opposite field gap.

Miles Jenkins  2B - 2020 - Inglewood, CA

There are a lot of things to like here, and the speed is certainly one of them. Jenkins ran a 6.85 60-yard dash on Saturday morning which was good for top 10 in the event. At the plate, Jenkins showed good gap to gap power with carry to and through both gaps. The speed played in the infield as well, showing impressive range and the ability to move well side to side.

Jake Marquez  SS - 2020 - Miami, FL
Maine

Marquez put on an impressive display of hitting during his round of batting practice. The 2020 shortstop from Miami flashed power to the pull side when connecting out front and was driving the ball well throughout. In the infield, his athletic build allowed him to move well through the ball and make some strong and accurate throws. The actions are athletic and clean and there are a lot of things to like about his game.

Mason Musgrave  RHP - 2020 - Riverdale, CA
Fresno Pacific University

Musgrave displayed a clean, repeatable delivery and consistently worked to each edge of the zone with a fastball that topped at 84 miles per hour. The 2020 grad effectively missed barrels throughout each inning of works and effectively changes speed with a breaking ball that flash tight swing with depth in the low 70/s.

John Navarro  OF - 2020 - Honolulu, HI

The 2020 outfielder from Hawaii put together an impressive round during batting practice on Saturday with some present bat speed and a good combination of strength and balance. The ball jumps off Navarro’s bat and he flashed good power to the pull side gap. On the mound, Navarro worked his fastball up to 83 and showed the ability to throw a good slider with 10-4 shape in any count.

Anthony Ortiz  SS - 2020 - Montebello, CA
Biola University

Showed a consistent smooth swing with a linear weight shift creating good leverage and bat speed. Flashed the ability to drive the ball to and through the gaps with consistently driven fly balls and line drives. On the mound Anthony showed a cutting fastball up to 86 miles per hour complemented by a sharp 11/4 curveball creating a lot of swing and miss at 67 miles per hour.

Garrett Riley  LHP - 2020 - Santa Ana, CA
Grambling State

The strong athletic 2020 grad was impressive on the mound this weekend featuring an athletic delivery with explosive actions and good arm speed. Works a two pitch mix throwing a very heavy fastball up to 86 miles per hour and a sharp 1/7 curveball at 67 miles per hour. Works up in the zone with the fastball creating a lot of swing and miss.

Edward Sarti  RHP - 2020 - Kentfield, CA
Pennsylvania

The 6-foot-4, right handed pitcher showed a loose, quick arm from a three-quarters slot that produced good jump through the zone with a fastball that topped at 86 miles per hour. Sarti would primarily look to work ahead early in counts and attack the bottom quadrants of the strike zone. The 2020 grad showed developing feel for an 11/5 breaking ball, but was able to keep hitters off balance with a sinking change in the mid to upper 70's.

Drew Woody  LHP - 2020 - Gilbert, AZ
Sacramento State

The 6-foot -1, left hander showed good feel for a heavy fastball in the mid 80's, topping at 86 miles per hour. The Arizona product w as consistently able to work ahead of hitters and utilize a sharp 12/6 breaking ball in the mid 70's to put away hitters late in counts.


2021 Top Prospects

Tyree Reed  OF - 2021 - Vallejo, CA
Oregon State

Started the weekend off by showing his game impacting speed running a 6.81 second sixty yard dash. In the outfield Tyree showed aggressive athletic actions working to and through the ball with confident glove actions and impressive arm strength with accurate carry to the bases topping out at 91 miles per hour from the outfield. During batting practice Reed showed a smooth swing with quick hands to the baseball creating consistent loud line drives throughout the weekend.

Daniel McElveny  SS - 2021 - Chula Vista, CA
San Diego State

The Chula Vista native was impressive throughout the weekend posting a 6.91 dash while topping at 86 miles per hour across the infield. McElveny showed the athleticism in the infield to making running plays to both his backhand and glove side consistently. At the plate, the 2021 grad displayed advanced feel for the barrel with present bat speed. Utilizes a very smooth, slightly lifted barrel plane with the strength to split each out field gap.

Tucker Bougie  3B - 2021 - Mill Valley, CA
California

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect displayed good arm strength across the infield topping at 88 miles per hour. Not only does Bougie posses raw arm strength, but he also shows good first step quickness while ranging for the baseball. Offensively, the 2021 grad utilizes a smooth swing plane and mid field approach. Creates very good bat speed when delivering barrel head to contact out front and generated loud, hard carry when squared. The Mill Valley native also displayed good upside on the mound topping at 87 miles per hour with a heavy fastball that jumped on hitters to the bottom quadrants of the zone. Also flashed a hard 10/4 slider that proved to be a very good swing and miss offering.

Gabe D'Arcy  OF - 2021 - San Clemente, CA
San Diego

Put on an impressive display during batting practice, showing the ability to create consistently loud contact. D’Arcy uses a simple swing path and some natural strength to drive the baseball to both gaps. His 6.71 60-yard dash was good for the second best time of the event. In the defensive workout, D’Arcy had some clean glove actions including a strong backhand and the ability to move in well on the ball. In game action, D’Arcy was impressive at the plate, lining a triple to center field and showing that same great speed as he flew around the bases.

Owen Dargie  OF - 2021 - Carlsbad, CA
Colorado Mesa

Flashed game impacting speed during workouts by posting a 6.91 second sixty yard dash. At the plate showed a simple smooth swing with quick clean hands creating good bat speed. Flashed power to all fields by consistently driving balls to and through the gaps in the outfield.

Braeden Ross  OF - 2021 - El Cajon, CA
Cal State Northridge

Started the weekend off in defensive workouts showing his good speed posting a 7.25 second sixty yard dash. From the outfield Ross showed athletic actions working to and through the ball to go along with his good arm strength topping out at 85 miles per hour from the outfield. During batting practice Ross showed a consistent middle of the field approach with the ability to also turn the barrel head and drive the ball to the pull side. Creates consistent sharp contact with good barrel control and bat speed. On the mound showed the ability to keep hitters off balance with a fastball up to 83 miles per hour and a 12/6 curveball keeping hitters off balance at 69 miles per hour.

Max McGwire  1B - 2021 - Irvine, CA
Oklahoma

Showed a strong athletic swing utilizing a clean hand path to the baseball with good bat speed and feel for the barrel. Flashed a line drive barrel plane with the ability to drive the baseball to and through the gaps in the outfield. Worked out defensively at first base showing athletic actions working to and through the ball to go along with good arm strength topping out at 82 miles per hour across the infield.

Cayden Clark  OF - 2021 - Stansbury Park, UT
Utah Tech

Clark is another 2021 grad who is highly projectable all over the field. The primary outfielder posted a 6.88 sixty-yard dash while topping at 88 miles per hour and utilized a smooth, repeatable barrel plane that generated plenty of hard contact to all fields. Clark also topped at 84 miles per hour on the mound and create late running action to arm side that really got in on right handed hitters quickly.

Jack Johnson  3B - 2021 - Arlington, WA
Santa Barbara City College

Johnson showed a very good combination of strength at balance at the plate that allowed him to drive the ball with intent to all fields. The 2021 grad consistently stayed behind the baseball at contact that allowed for good strength at contact with easy carry to the gaps.


2022 Top Prospects

Tyler Gough  RHP - 2022 - Perris, CA
Oregon State

The Oregon State commit started the weekend off by posting a 7.12 second sixty yard dash. In defensive workouts flashed smooth hands working to and through the ball in the infield with good arm strength topping out at 88 miles per hour across the diamond. On the mound Gough features an athletic delivery with impressive arm speed. Features a two pitch mix with a heavy fastball up to 91 miles per hour with good control to both sides of the plate and a sharp 10/4 breaking ball creating consistent off balance swings and swing and miss.

Mason McGwire  RHP - 2022 - Irvine, CA
Uncommitted

The 2022 righty had a strong outing on the mound using a good fastball/splitter combo to keep hitters off balance. McGwire has a young frame with room to grow and showed the ability to repeat his mechanics well. The fastball worked up to 82 on Saturday with the splitter getting swings and misses in low 70’s.

Noah Rodriguez  SS - 2022 - La Habra, CA
UNLV

Rodriguez displayed fluidity throughout his actions both defensively and at the plate throughout the weekend. Flashed good range to each side from shortstop with the ability to throw while on the run with accuracy. The 2022 grad also showed quick, compact action from behind the plate popping a 1.93. Offensively, Rodriguez generated good linear shift into contact with quick hands to contact that produced sharp line drive contact off the barrel.

Benjamin Watson  1B - 2022 - Gilbert, AZ
Pima CC

Watson displayed good feel for the barrel with a natural, smooth plane through extension. The 2022 grad consistently looked to connect with baseball out front and showed the barrel speed and strength to drive the ball to the middle of the field and pull side gap with intent.
