8/29/2021

Josh Hyneman (2022 RHP, Jonesboro, AR) Broke out at the plate on Sunday and hit for the cycle on the weekend. He showed aggressive intent in his swings with loft to the bat path and solid bat speed through the zone. Finished the weekend going 6-for-6 with a towering home run to left field, two triples, a double and a pair of singles. He’s an Arkansas commit.

Vaughn Smith (2022 MIF, Memphis, TN) Made an impact on both sides of the baseball on Sunday. He was one of the premiere defenders in the showcase and made several nice plays at the middle infield positions. At the plate he was able to barrel up a couple balls that went for singles, one was a line drive to left field and the other was a sharply hit grounder through the right side of the infield.

Aiden Miller (2022 OF, Collierville, TN) Was impressive at the plate on Sunday. Had a couple of hits, including a sharply lined triple over the centerfielders head. Showed quality bad speed and a feel for hitting to all-fields.

Matthew Autry (2023 3B, Collierville, TN) Collected a pair of base hits in game action on Sunday including a sharply hit ground ball that got through the left side of the infield. Hits with an all-fields approach with solid bat speed.

Holden Robinson (2024 OF, Germantown, TN) Was a standout two-way player on Sunday. He went two innings on the mound and struck out three batters. His FB topped out at 79 mph with riding life through the zone. Also mixed in a few two-plane breaking balls. Will McCrory (2023 SS, Clinton, MS) Collected a pair of hits on Sunday. Showed quality barrel control, his first hit was a hard hit ground ball up the middle and another hard hit ground ball through the left side of the infield.

Zander Smith (2024 1B, Paducah, KY) Stood out on both sides of the ball on Sunday. On the mound he pitched a very efficient inning and showed a FB up to 80 with plenty of life through the zone. Also recorded a hard hit line drive single up the middle with the bat.

Bryson Jackson (2024 C, Corinth, MS) Showed some juice in his bat on Sunday. Roped a line drive double down the left field line. Does a nice job of utilizing his lower half in his swings and has solid bat speed through the zone.

Nathan Myers (2024 RHP, Collierville, TN) Went three strong innings on the bump Sunday and struck out three batters over those frames. His FB topped out at 81 mph and showed life through the zone. Complimented the heater with a 11/5 shaped CB that had solid tightness and bite.

Landon Carter (2025 SS, Sherwood, AR) Collected a pair of hits on Sunday and showed an all-fields approach with the bat. He has some loft in the bat path and it stays in the zone for an extended period of time which pairs well with his impressive bat speed.

Saturday Game Highlights

8/28/2021

Josh Hyneman (2022 RHP, Jonesboro, AR) was overmatching opposing hitters for his entire three inning outing. Struck out eight of the nine batters that he faced. His fastball topped out at 90 with significant life while also throwing a deep CB and a two-plane slider that both had bite to them. Also showed a handful of changeups that had late depth. Also showed off his skills with the bat by legging out a triple and also hitting a double in their second game of the day.

Seth Bishop (2023 2B, Jonesboro, AR) Put a very solid swing on a pitch and drove a triple into the RF corner. Short and compact stroke that has an adjustable path that can handle pitches in all quadrants of the zone.

Owen Block (2023 RHP, Nashville, TN) Shined on the mound Saturday going three innings and all nine of his outs that he recorded were via the strikeout. His fastball topped out at 88 mph and showed life through the zone that missed bats. His go-to offering was his two-plane slider that had plenty of bite and tightness. Flashed a couple of changeups that had fading action as well. Also recorded a base knock at the plate.

Bryson Jackson (2024 C, Corinth, MS) Showed a compact stroke that stays in the zone for an extended period of time and lined a triple down the rightfield line for a triple.

Isaac Yearwood (2022 MIF, Bells, TN) Showed quality bat control and feel for the barrel in game action Saturday. Recorded a pair of hits, both singles one to each field. Turned in multiple quality at-bats and proved to be a tough out.

Batting Practice Highlights

8/28/2021

Matthew Autry (2023 3B, Collierville, TN) has a nice short swing that produces lots of solid barrel contact.  He looks like a young right handed hitter who can move the ball around the field and hit for a high average.

Mason Despaux (2022 1B, River Ridge, LA) is a big and strong 6-0/240 left handed hitter who takes a big hack at the plate.  He gets big jump when he squares it up and you've got to like his aggressiveness.

Aidan Hackett (2023 OF, Memphis, TN) has strong hands and creates good bat speed with some middle of the field carry.  He can get even more bat speed by tapping into his strong lower half more.

Owen Block (2023 RHP, Nashville, TN) is a primary pitcher but has a nice swing with quick hands and some real bat speed.  Some adjustments to improve his balance and consistency would take him up another level.

Garrett Simmons (2023 LHP, Collierville, TN) is another primary pitcher with a good swing and nice bat speed.  He barreled up the ball hard a number of times and is best pulling the ball.

Isaac Yearwood (2022 MIF, Bells, TN) is a slender left handed hitter who improved throughout his round as he got timed up and was really driving the ball by the end of the round.  He had nice carry up the right centerfield gap.

Cason Hill (2025 OF, Murfreesboro, TN) was especially impressive as one of the youngest players at the showcase.  He has a smooth and fluid swing with good extension and bat speed at contact, especially when he gets his foot down from a big hanging load.

Landon Carter (2025 SS, Sherwood, AR) is another young 2025 with a really clean swing and some jump off the barrel.  He has a ton of projection physically.

Brock Brubaker (2022 OF, Owensboro, KY) has fast hands that he uses well to create bat speed with a line drive swing plane.  He worked gap to gap and had good balance through contact.

Spence Coffman (2022 SS, Corinth, MS) has a power approach at the plate and is very aggressive attacking the baseball.  He took the same approach into the games and really crushed some baseballs.

Logan Stewart (2022 SS, Pea Ridge, AR) hit the only home run from batting practice, a bomb to the right of the scoreboard.  He swings with intent and has plenty of present strength.
