16u Tourney All-American Team

The 2022 season was filled with big time development, monster stat lines, and consistent performances for these players. Many of the stars of the class continued to to shine, while other lesser known names began to make the leap into stardom with their standout performances on the field. We take an in depth look at the top 16U performers at PG events with our annual PG Tournament All-Americans. Of the players on the first and second teams, 17 of them played in the Junior National Showcase or Underclass All-American Games: Ariston Veasey, PJ Morlando, Derek Curiel, Jackson Barberi, Kash Mayfield, Levi Clark, Jayden Novak, Kustarr Webb, Addison Klepsch, Erik Parker, Trey Snyder, Michael Mullinax, Bo Walker, Braden Booth, Jackson Sanders and Matt Hoag. Two other selections, Talan Bell and Truitt Manuel earned MVP Pitcher awards at two of the most prestigious 16U tournaments; The WWBA Underclass World Championships and WWBA 16U National Championship.

Victor Frederick and JJ Howe led the way for honorees in All Tournament Selections with 12 and 10 selections each in 2022.



PJ Morlando currently ranks No. 3 in the class and showcased why he is so highly touted all year long. The slugging outfielder posted an eye-popping .475/.581/.797 slash line (1.378 OPS) across 74 plate appearances. Both an impressive hit tool and power tool were consistently on display. Morlando recorded 14 total extra-base hits, while also walking more than twice as many times as he struck out. The massive offensive skill set was on full display at the WWBA National Championship (2024 grads) in July, where Morlando hit .706 (2.325 OPS) during the event with 10 extra-base hits. The track record and ability to consistently dominate at the plate is why PJ Morlando is the 2022 16u Tournament Player of the Year.

Talan Bell was absolutely masterful all year long. The left-hander out of Florida posted absurd numbers over 21 dominant innings of work, surrendering just one earned run all year and striking out nearly two hitters per inning (43 total strikeouts). The dominant 2022 campaign could not have ended in a better fashion, as Bell took home the Most Valuable Pitcher award at Underclass WWBA followed by five dominant shutout innings in Jupiter. It was nearly impossible to score on Bell all year long and for that reason he has been named the 2022 16u Tournament Pitcher of the Year title.
